The Town of Edgewood has six designated parks, comprising more than 24 acres of land and enhancing the unique character of the town. The heart of Old Edgewood is 19-acre Edgewood Park and Recreation Area, which was part of the original town incorporated in 1930. Edgewood Park has tennis courts, playground equipment, basketball goals, and a shelter house with picnic tables. An Urban Forest Conservation grant is helping to restore the damage done to Edgewood Park by a tornado in September of 2002. The grant will also help to establish an arboretum of native Indiana Trees at Edgewood Park.
Winding Way Park is a beautiful garden-style green space on State Road 32 and Winding Way with a gazebo, butterfly house and natural stone walls that mirror the traditional landscaping of many Old Edgewood homes.
Parks in every neighborhood provide playground and picnic areas within easy walking distance of most homes, and help to preserve the green space that characterizes the Town. Redwood Park is a .9-acre park at Redwood and Oakwood Drives in South Edgewood. Also in South Edgewood is Windsor Park on Windsor and South Edgewood Drive. Wilkerson Park is a playground and picnic area between North and South Parkway Drive and Golf Club Road. Woods Park is a shady triangle of land in old Edgewood with playground equipment and picnic tables.
